Medical Tourism Watch reports on an industry where marketing routinely wears the clothes of journalism. This page sets out how we work, and links to every detailed standard we hold ourselves to.
What we publish
Six formats, each labelled: news, analysis, data, guides, interviews and opinion. Opinion is always named, always disclosed and never promotional. Press releases are labelled as issuer statements and never carry an independent news byline — see our press release policy.
How stories are chosen
We cover what matters to the people who run, fund, regulate or study medical travel. We do not choose stories because a subject advertises, sponsors, supplies data or is connected to the publisher — and we do not avoid stories for those reasons either.
Sourcing
We name sources wherever possible. Anonymity is granted only where there is a real risk to a person’s safety or employment, and the reason is explained to the reader. We do not publish claims about outcomes, prices or accreditation on a provider’s word alone. Source protection is covered in our investigations policy.
Verification
Every factual claim is checked before publication under our fact-checking policy. Figures carry a date and a source. Prices carry the date they were checked. Data work follows our data methodology.
Independence from commerce
Advertising and sponsorship buy placement and labelled space. They never buy news coverage, editorial placement, ranking inclusion or protection from criticism. Editorial and commercial records are kept separately. See our sponsored content policy and advertising terms.
Authorship
Every article carries a real byline and a biography. We do not invent desks, teams, correspondents or advisory boards. Outside contributions follow our contributor guidelines.
Right of reply
Organisations criticised in our reporting are asked for comment before publication and given a reasonable period to respond. Responses are published.
Related businesses
