Fact-Checking Policy

Published 8 September 2026  ·  Reviewed annually, or whenever our practice changes

Medical travel reporting is full of numbers with no origin. Ours are checked, dated and sourced.

What we check before publication

  • Statistics and market figures against the original source, not a secondary report of it.
  • Prices against a named provider or published tariff, recorded with the date checked.
  • Accreditation claims against the accrediting body’s own register.
  • Regulatory and visa claims against the issuing authority.
  • Quotations against a recording or written record.
  • Titles and affiliations against a current source.

What we will not publish

  • Outcome or success-rate claims resting only on a provider’s marketing.
  • Prices without a date.
  • Statistics whose original source we cannot identify.
  • “Best” or “top” claims that are not the output of a published methodology.

Who checks

Medical Tourism Watch is currently a single-editor publication, and checking is performed by the author before publication. For investigations, related-business coverage and other high-risk stories, we seek review from a qualified person outside the publication before publishing.

Before publishing: This paragraph is honest about your size, which is the right instinct. Confirm you are comfortable stating it publicly, and adjust if anyone else reviews your work.

Maintenance labels

Articles carry, where relevant: published date, updated date, fact-checked date, data period, price checked, regulation checked, and reviewed by.
